Fruit Leather
You take about 4 pounds of any fruit ( like 8 apples or pears)
peel it
chop it
place in a saucepan with about 4 tablespoons of water, and just let it boil, it wil get really bubbly, but that’s ok, I like to add some cinnamon , and then it really tastes good. If the fruit is soft, then its ready, if some of it is but not all, just leave it on for a few more minutes. take the fruit out and place in a blender ( be careful its hot, and the only thing worse than having to clean up a blender explosion, is having to clean up a blender explosion of hot fruit!, so only put about half in, than add the other half later) congratulations you have j ust made apple or pear sauce! If you really wanted to you could feed this through a sive and collect all the juice while it is still warm, and it tastes just like apple cider (even if you use pears!)
Now for the fruit leather part, spread the fruit mixture ( you could have added some other fruits to the blender in the last step so…..)
over a Greassed cookie sheet (one with sides!, and greased because otherwise you will never be able to get it off!) but it has to be thin,(1/8-1/4in0 otherwise youll be left with apple sauce :-(
Bake at 250 for about 6-8 hours ( yeah its a while, but your dehydrating, so its gonna take a while) Peel off and enjoy! (or scrape off, if its still applesauce)
anyway, I have a dehydrating machine so, thats what I use, that why my fruit leathers were round, Ive only tried it in the oven once, and it didn’t turn out too well, ( hence the “if its still apple sauce”)
You might have to prop you oven door open to allow the air to flow around…?if this dosn’t work( or sounds questionable) you can always find someone elses recipie to try!
